Who was galileo?
A : Galileo Galilei was an Italian astronomer and physicist who supported the theories of Copernicus. He improved the telescope and made so many new observations about the planets that he has been declared the father of science. He discovered the four biggest moons of Jupiter. However, during his lifetime, Galileo struggled against the Roman Catholic Church. The Church banned his work on the planets because it was so different from what the scriptures said. He was put under house arrest for insisting that the Sun is at the centre of the solar system and remains in one place. The Church forced him to change his views in public, but he held on to them in private.
