How is the heart structured?
A: The heart has four chambers, two on each side, one above the other. The two top chambers are called the left atrium and right atrium. The two lower chambers are the left and right ventricles.A wall of muscle separates the left and the right sides of the heart. The right atrium receives unclean blood full of carbon dioxide from the body. When the atrium is full, a valve opens and blood flows into the right ventricle below. From the right ventricle, the unclean blood is sent to the lungs. The lungs breathe out the carbon dioxide contained in the blood and breathe in oxygen which the body needs. The blood, now full of oxygen, enters the left atrium. When the left atrium is full, the blood
flows into the left ventricle
